As a membership web site, we collect information from you to create your account and deliver the account services. The identifying information includes an email address and, optionally, a birthday and gender. The username you choose does not have to be a real name, so it does not need to identify you.

All your account information is stored in a database on a server. Wishlist passwords are stored in an encrypted form. No one can guarantee 100% security on any computer system including servers. However, we have taken all reasonable precautions to ensure the database cannot be hacked.

YourWishlist.ca Session

To provide a more hassle-free experience of our wishlist service, we use cookies to create user sessions. A session cookie is a data file that gets placed and stored on your computer to allow interaction between your computer and our website. It does not include your username or password, but rather a special piece of data, created when you first log in, that serves as verification that you have properly logged in and thereby avoids you having to log in again each and every time you go to a new page or save changes to a page.

If you have your browser set not to accept cookies, you may either configure it to accept yourwishlist.ca as an exception, or else log in manually every time you save or go to a new page.

If you forget to log out of your Wishlist account before you leave the site, you will be logged out automatically when your session cookie expires, which will happen when you close your browser.

Membersip Account pages with personal code

If you are accessing your Membership account on a page that includes your personal code in the URL, you should not go directly to another site afterwards, as traffic analysis software can track the URL of the page you come from when entering a site. You can avoid this by closing the window or tab (or your browser itself) and opening a new one to start fresh browsing; or else go first to a page on YourWishlist.ca that does not include your personal code in the URL.

What do we use your information for?

To personalize your experience. Your information helps us to better respond to your individual needs.
To improve our website. We continually strive to improve our website offerings based on the information and feedback we receive from you.
To administer a contest, promotion, survey or other site feature.
To send periodic emails. The email address you provide for registering will be used to send you information and updates pertaining to our website. Your registration for a Membership Account constitutes your acceptance of being on our mailing list.

Advertisements On The Site

Google's use of the DART cookie enables it to serve ads that are relevant to our website. Google gathers information from the words we use in the content of our web pages. Google does not track or store your name, address, email address, or telephone number, but may track your IP address (the network address of the specific computer you're using). Do we disclose any information to outside parties?

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information. This does not include trusted third parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect the rights, property, or safety of ourselves or others. However, non-personally-identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.
